Forget About Facials! A Do-It-Yourself Peel that Yields Results

So who’s got money to burn at the facialist these days?  Beauty treatments – like facials, brow waxing and even hair highlights - were one of the first things I stopped cold turkey - to offset losses from the stock crash and also just to cut back in general due to the current economic state.

Truth be told, most dermatologists and plastic surgeons deem “facials” worthless anyways, except for things like peels, which rid us of dead skin.  So, the last time I was at a beauty supply store (Naimie’s in Valley Village) I decided to ask about buying a do-it-yourself glycolic peel.  They gave me Natura Bisse’s Glyco Extreme Peel.  I asked,  “Are you sure this is as strong as the kind you get at the facialist?”  The saleslady nodded emphatically.  However, I nearly fell over when the check-out gal said “that will be $200.”  For the briefest moment, I considered putting it back.  Then, I decided to go ahead, rationalizing that if this stuff worked, it would be a steal, as there were more than 12 treatments in the small bottle and facials cost between $80 and $150.

Well, I definitely scored with Glyco Extreme Peel.  Even thought is says “extreme” there isn’t anything remotely extreme about the “peel.”  It feels the same (tingles uncomfortably a bit) as when the facialist does it, and the results are exactly the same: tighter pores, rosy complexion and skin that generally looks better.  As with the facialist’s glycolic treatment, there is no discernable peeling during or afterwards.  I’ve been using this product every other week and I really see results.

The strangest thing about the Glyco Peel is that every store that sells it on-line charges more than $200.  I haven’t found one outlet that charges $200.  Most – including EBay – sell the peel for $250.  Unfortunately, Naimie’s does not sell the product on their website, but if you are in the LA area you can hit the store in the San Fernando Valley. Even for $250, if you find glycolic peels beneficial, I’d snag a bottle of Glyco Extreme Peel.
