Marigolds - A Natural Insect Repellent
May 07, 2009 - Linda Grasso
My friend, Georgia Bell, recently told me of her secret for preventing insects from munching on her vegetable garden. She plants marigolds through out her garden. “From what I understand, the scent of the marigold that acts like a natural pesticide. You’re supposed to plant them on the borders of your gardens."
It's a great for warding off bugs without using insecticides. And there's another bonus, says Georgia, "You can save the dead, dried marigold flowers and replant the seeds next year.”
Georgia adds that not only do marigolds keep
insects away, they’re also an unexpected splash of color. And, by the way, her veggie garden is a
super healthy one - filled with cucumbers, tomatoes, pumpkins, beets, corn and kale. In fact, last year, she
had several tomato plants produce fruit through the fall, survive the mild
California winter, and, now, they’re sprouting blossoms again!

Love your tips Linda!!! Don't forget.....when your marigolds start to dry out, pick the flowers and let them dry out in the sun. You can break apart the flowers and plant the seeds. You can do this in the same season or save them for next year!!!! Recycle : )
