Date Outfit; Great Fitting Jeans and Shoulder Baring Top
Okay, so you have a big important date coming up. And, this is with someone you're really interested in. You want to make a great impression. But your mind is playing tricks as you think, "look sexy...no ... "look smart"...no..."look successful"...no..."look young"...no..."look casual"....WHAT TO WEAR?
Well, in my opinion, clothes are not the most important thing to think about here - grooming is! Make sure you're well groomed. That means no chipped nail polish on fingers or toes. No roots showing if you color your hair. Make sure your hair color and cut is fresh and good. Splurge to have your hair professionally blown dried. Make sure your legs are shaved and don't be afraid to use a good self tanner. That miracle cream can hide the little imperfections we have on our legs and give us that extra glow.
Secondly, I suggest picking your best feature and then selecting your outfit accordingly. Do you have a small waist? Pick a dress or top that cinches in at the waist. Fantastic legs? Go for a dress or skirt with a slightly shorter hemline. Do you have pretty clavicle bones? Opt for a bateau neckline where the top casually falls off one shoulder as you move. A strapless or one shouldered dress is also a good option, where you show skin, but not too much. The idea is to play up your best feature.
Great Look; Sexy & Sophisticated
If you are inclined to select your cleavage as the feature to play up, give it some thought. Do you have great cleavage or big boobs? They are not one and the same. If you decide to go with cleavage, don't be spilling out all over the place--just show a hint of that treasure trove; more of that may be seen later.
Date Dressing; Casual & Chic in Skinny Jeans and Top
Many women find it hard to avoid the temptation to overdress - but I say play it cool. Say for example you are going to a restaurant. You could wear unembellished dark or white denim jeans that fit really well with a strappy sandal. Pair that on top with a fitted cropped jacket with a camisole and a printed sheer blouse. If a fitted jacket is too form fitting, then opt for a wrap/cardigan, one that has fluidity. The idea is to have it drape; we're not going for the librarian twin set. You can disrobe at the table to reveal your carefully selected top.
A Fabulous Date Dress If You've Got the Legs for It!
Since it's summer, many of us are wearing sundresses--both short and maxi length. How do these figure in on a date? If you have great arms and nice shoulders, these dresses are a good option. Be sure the fabric is slinky: silk, rayon, tencel, etc... A cotton KNIT dress is for daytime only.
Additional do's and don'ts for dressing on the first date with a great guy:
Don't appear as if you are trying too hard to look good. Try and look like you've put yourself together in a modest amount of time. A girlfriend of mine had an important date, so she had her make-up professionally done by someone she had never met. The make-up artist went completely overboard and my friend felt too made-up. She thinks this may be the reason she never had that second date. I advise against maiden voyages with make-up. Stick to what is tried and true for you so your feel like yourself.
Don't wear something super trendy. Chances are it's not something you'd typically wear and therefore, you're not representing who you really are.
Don't carry a big bag. Leave your life at home. Get a clutch or a small bag. This tells your date that your life is uncluttered and your focus is on him for the evening.
Do be bold with your jewelry. Jewelry, in fact, is where trendy might work in your outfit. The idea is to punch up your look with jewelry. Lots of bangles, big hoop earrings, a big cocktail ring on your middle finger can all be very effective in terms of looking current and special. But do one of these accessory looks, not all of them. Too many accessories make a noisy appearance, literally!
Finally, don't use your cell phone as an accessory. There is no bigger turn-off that texting and answering messages while on a date. Put all devices on vibrate and -if you must- use the vibrate mode later in case the date doesn't work out.
This article covers it quite well I think. Good tips and reminders for those of us who get lazy (me!), Funny line there at the end Linleigh! Got a big HAHA from me!

In my case, Mr. Right is my husband but these suggestions still apply! On another note, I love the pink dress - does anyone know who the designer is?

Hi Laurie,
Thanks for the comment. The dress can be found at Neiman Marcus on line. It's called the Pepet dress from Diane von Furstenberg. It retails for $385.00, but Neiman's 40% off sale officially starts this week and I bet it'll be on sale if it is still available. Other stores also carry this line. So check Saks and Bloomingdales also. Good luck. :) Linleigh

Many ladies and some men are choosing to have Caramel hair color in these days to add texture and give life back into the hair. Caramel brown hair color to the movement of hair, clean and interesting.
