Beautiful Bling for the Buck: Michelle Roy jewelry at the SheSez store!
January 28, 2010 - Linleigh Richker and Linda Grasso
Sure, Michelle Roy designs jewelry for an exclusive celebrity clientele that includes the likes of Madonna, Demi Moore, Ava Longoria and J-Lo. But that's not why we love her. We love Michelle's jewelry because it's stylish, well-made and can turn even the most simple clothing into a sophisticated ensemble. We can always count on Michelle to have the hottest, chic pieces and, what's more, we can afford them!
So, we were delighted when Michelle invited us into her Robertson Boulevard showroom to pick out a few items to offer our readers at the SheSez store on Open Sky (in case you don't remember, Open Sky is our e-commerce partner - they run our store for us....we pick out things we love, and they do the rest. By the way there's a 100% satisfaction return policy - i.e. you can return and get a full refund for any reason). Linleigh hand-selected the items. Then, the two of us put together the short video below offering a close-up look at the selections, as well as tips on how to wear them. "
First up? Michelle's fabulous cocktail rings, which have stretch bands, enabling you to wear them on your index or middle finger - whichever you prefer. There are three designs: flower (at very top of this article), dome, and studded (both below). The gold flower and dome versions have Swarovski crystals, and will blend perfectly with your real jewelry. Wear them with even your best pieces and no one will suspect a thing! And, get this: they're just 41 bucks!
What's more elegant and feminine than a single, 14 karat gold-dipped clover pendant necklace? With the Clover Necklace's ($79) clean, simple design, we guarantee you'll want to wear it everyday. The chain is also adjustable, so you can wear the clover pendant shorter or longer depending on what you’re wearing. It's also a perfect gift as it comes it a little box with a good luck poem inside. This is, by the way, one of Linleigh's favorite gift items for Bat Mitzvahs. The Clover Necklace also comes two other versions: with a silver pendant and chain and with a gold pendant but a turquoise beaded chain.
All three versions of the Clover Necklace, by the way, are currently on sale for 25-percent off as part of a Valentine's Day promotion on Open Sky. To get your coupon code, go to this page, fill out your email address and put "SheSez" as your favorite Shopkeeper. Your coupon code will be emailed to you immediately. Then use your coupon and order it - don't wait! The offer is only good through Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2010.
The Leaf Bib Necklace (regular price: $95, on sale now for $68) above is a terrific statement piece. It's gold-plated brass with Swarovski crystals. By the way, it's on sale now thru Feb. 18th, 2010. Just use coupon code : FASHIONWEEK25 . Wear it with a simple, high, crew neckline on an all black or white background, or with a strapless top or dress and you're "dressed to kill". This is the piece I have on in the video (yep, I wore it right out of the store!). It comes in two versions: with a chain (on sale for $68) and on a ribbon ($104). The one pictured above on a chain is the one Linda is wearing in the video. The one pictured below is the one on the ribbon.
Aluminum Mesh Chains with Ball
The Aluminum Mesh Chain with Ball ($57) comes in three finishes: gold, silver and black. Watch in the video how the gold balls unscrew. You'll get a feel for how you can make one super long necklace with two or even three of the necklaces. We love the mixed metallics - gold, silver and black - all together!
The Long and Sexy Chains ($158) also mixes metallics with antique silver, gold and black (graphite) chains. The neck strap is leather and stops at the clavicle - the rest of the piece consists of long, flowing chains, which hang below the waist. This is the piece that Linleigh is wearing in the video above. It has a sexy, hip feeling and is a clever way to up the ante when you're wearing jeans and a sweater.
Cuff Bracelet with Black and Gold Crystals
Cuff Bracelet with Pastel Crystals
Cuff Bracelet with Silver Chain
Gold Cuff Bracelet with Tassle
You might be attracted to all those cool tops offered now with sewn on jewel and studded embellishments. We are too, but what a hassle to clean! You don't have to worry about that with the stretch Cuff Bracelets, which are all $95. Check out the video to learn how to create the illusion of one fluid piece with a long-sleeved top. There are several versions of the stretch Cuffs: Gold Chain with Tassle, Silver Chain, with assorted Pastel Crystals or with assorted Gold & Black Crystals.
Shimmer Wing Necklace in Turquoise
butterfly wing pendant (colors vary) on Shimmer Wing Necklace
The Shimmer Wing Necklace ($143) shown in the trio of photos above is a great way to jumpstart your spring wardrobe. The "prayer" beads come two ways: in wood (these are green beads) or turquoise. The pendant is an actual butterfly wing picked up off the floor of the Peruvian rain forests by local workers. We call this our socially conscious piece as purchasing a shimmer wing necklace helps the poor economy there by creating jobs. As shown in the video, we love the shimmer wings paired with the gold-dipped Clover Necklace.
Now, a couple of really trendy pieces. This item shown in the three photos above is super hot right now. It's called a Body Chain and it fits the torso like a vest ($143). It comes in silver or gold. The Body Chain has two Swarovski crystal clasps - one on the back and one on the front. Our model in the video is wearing the silver version of the Body Chain, which is Linleigh's favorite. If you have a rockin' body (like Miley Cyrus, who recently wore Michelle Roy's Body Chain on her concert tour - check it out in the video), this is a great way to show it off.
Our second super trendy piece we're offering in the SheSez store is the Bib Necklace with Crystals ($217). This glamorous item was featured in People Magazine's Stylewatch edition this winter. Bib necklaces with crystals are super "in" right now and if you need to punch up a simple dress or top - particularly one that's sleeveless - this is a smashing way to do it. This necklace also capitalizes on the mixed metallics trend that's so popular right now - with tones of black, graphite, silver, and gold.

Wow this jewlery is really beautiful. I love the use of the dark (black) metallics and the juxtaposition against the silver and crystal. I'm thinking about the aluminum chains myself....

Tres belle! I love this line - all except for the stretch bracelets. They are gaudy and look cheap. But the rest is very pretty.

Chelise,
I can see what you see, but in person, these stretch bracelets are very cool, especially when worn at the end of a long sleeve tee shirt. It looks like the adornment of the tee. Linleigh
