SheSez Joins Forces with Open Sky & HipFusion Designs to Get Charitable

 Hollywood Arts holds a dear place in my heart. The organization helps homeless youth by giving them classes in the arts. This truly is a forgotten group.  Many of them spent their childhoods in foster care, bouncing in and out of homes until they finally landed on the streets.  So, when I was asked to join the HA board a few years ago, I agreed. It's been a wonderful experience meeting students like Quadiyr.  A year and a half ago "Q", as we call him, was living on the streets when someone suggested he take advantage of the free classes offered at the Hollywood Arts center on Wilcox Street. Those classes led to an internship with Comcast, which then led to a full-time job working in their Media Dept. I recently learned that Q is getting rave reviews from his Comcast bosses and is taking classes at LA Community College, with the hopes of attending UCLA someday.

Okay, now switch gears. Neida Joseph-Abel, who owns the cool jewelry company Hip Fusion Designs, recently offered me the chance to design at item -  with a portion of the sales going to the charity of my choice.  To make the piece super affordable, Neida said she'd donate her time on the item - and only charge for materials. Given my affinity for Hollywood Arts, it took mere seconds for me to quip, "Let's do it!" While Neida specializes in making handcrafted jewelry out of precious metal clay and dichroic glass, she's agreed to go off course a bit to make my designs, a lariat with dual circles and matching earrings.   

On top of that wonderful opportunity, Open Sky, the company that runs our SheSez store, offered to match every dollar we donate from every sale for one solid week. There are other websites, who also have stores run by Open Sky, participating in this philanthropic 7-day event. And, there's something of a little contest going on between us. The website that makes the most money for their charity will get double the amount from Open Sky. Of course, I'm hoping like that will be SheSez!

So, today, I'm offering a sneak peek at my design which hits the SheSez store next week. As mentioned, it's a lariat ($60) and earrings ($30) which come with either a gold or silver finish. The items will go on sale at the SheSez store on Monday June 28th. The pieces are adorned with polished crystals. More details on the loot when the sale kicks off.
